Welcome to the companion blog of the Second Life Future Salon! We meet once a month in Second Life® (a 3D online world created by its users) for state-of and next-generation foresight presentations by digital world scholars, builders, users and entrepreneurs. That's right: we meet once a month in a living, breathing 3D digital world (see this post for some of the reasons why we chose to meet in SL). Come check it out!

The first SL Future Salon will take place on Thursday, April 28th, at 5:30 PM PST (8:30 PM EST). See this post for who will be presenting and this post for how to get into SL and attend the Salons.

This project is an extension of the Acceleration Studies Foundation's network of Future Salons. This particular Salon is being established as a resource for learning about, discussing, suggesting and creating future applications of digital worlds, simulation technologies, and augmented reality (broadly defined and not specific only to Second Life—we hold our meetings in SL, but there is no professional relationship between the Second Life Future Salon and Linden Lab, the company that operates Second Life: Second Life® and Linden Lab® are registered trademarks of Linden Research, Inc. No infringement is intended).

Please check out the About page for more background on this blog and the SL Salon. Both are works in progress that will mature over time, so your feedback in helping us grow up sooner than later is much appreciated.
