Supernova 2005 Second Life Business Simulation Contest

While the Second Life Game Developer's competition (which you can follow on New World Notes) kicks into high gear, another lesser known but equally ambitious Second Life competition is testing the waters. Check out the Supernova 2005 Second Life Business Simulation Contest happening in conjunction with Kevin Werbach's ^ 2005 Supernova conference. Open to SL residents and Supernova attendees, the contest overview reads:

"Among many other things, MMOGs such as Second Life are wonderful laboratories for business ideas. Some Second Life residents have already developed thriving businesses within the virtual world, requiring the same kinds of skills as a successful real-world business.

"The goal of the Supernova 2005 Business Simulation Contest is to use entrepreneurship, management, and marketing skills to identify, describe, or develop a successful business within Second Life. Entrants can either operate a business themselves, or create a business plan for a new Seconde Life business. We are assembling a distinguished panel of judges who will evaluate contest entries and award prizes. Prize winners will be announced during the Supernova evening reception on June 21, which will also serve as a "virtual party" operating simultaneously in San Francisco and Second Life."

This is a great idea and Supernova is a great conference, so I'm a little surprised that news of this isn't circulating more. I mean, the deadline is only three weeks away (midnight, June 15) and there's not that much to read about it online. I hope that changes. Anyway, you can plug my business ideas in as 1.) the Second Life Future Salon (even though it's free :-) and 2.) an inworld mapping and geoblogging service with an eye to getting picked up in the real world by Google, Yahoo!, or Microsoft (as described in the last post).
