The Second Life Relay For Life Starts Today!

After months of planning, the American Cancer Society-supported Second Life Relay For Life starts today! Official events start at 5 PM PDT, but the track is up and ready for walking (plus driving and flying :) so please join us in Second Life, check it out, participate, and if you can, donate some money to a good cause. Directions:You can find the Relay snaking through the Balance, Bethel, Brilliant, Fame, Fortuna, and Gorgean sims, encircling giant, terraformed rivers spelling HOPE (pictured below). To go directly to the start of the track, log into SL, click the Map button in the lower right, select "Balance" under the Region button, and Teleport. It's also big enough to be visible from the world map, so you can just click the Map button then double click on the big, blue HOPE to get there.

The goal is to raise $5,000US between donations in virtual currency (Linden dollars in Second Life that can be exchanged for US$ at approx 250:1 using Gaming Open Market) and real world currency via the cancer.org/slrfl site. During official Relay times, starting at 5 PM PDT this evening, live video will also be streamed out of Second Life onto cancer.org/slrfl courtesy of Trimda Hedges, so you can point your browser and non-SLer friends there to check out the happenings from the Web.
