Sharing my new Second Life t-shirt graphic mixing SL and the Google logo:
No relationship between the two companies yet, but do you think there could be? Would make sense for Google as they extend into surprising new frontiers: partner with NASA, stake out outter space and the Universe; partner with Linden Lab, stake out inner^space and the Metaverse.
BTW check out SL's Google-style shamrock sun from back on St. Patrick's Day. Feeling lucky? Funny. Haven't seen anything like that inworld since.
Take a look at this: http://roam.wetikon.net/

That's so cool! And you know the inimitable Hank Hoodoo and his Electric Sheep Company have also released SLWebSearch which currently searches the Web proper for SL-related sites while elsewhere Hiro Pendragon toils away on some kind of code-name "Scoogle" SL search engine dealybob... Looks like we have to do a salon on SL, virtual worlds, and search.

I use ROAM search daily based on an as-needed basis. I often need to look up inworld landmarks, including parcels which are NOT listed in Find Places, and therefore don't up when I do an inworld search. It's just very convenient. It's also part of a bigger picture here.
Why not SLoogle? ;)

Wondering that myself. And maybe he meant Sgoogle, with a G. Probably, now that I think about it, but I've never seen it written down :-).
On searching spaces, yesterday I listened to a podcast of JC Herz talking about Flickr for Satellites--basically people getting RSS feeds of new satellite images so they can keep their eye on a particular place. That's more great geo-info that can be pushed from SL and made searchable: "Ping me when there are over 30 avatars in this particular area" etc.

Thanks Jerry and Jade for the SL search links. You've changed the way I go about my second life!

I know that SL has done sun/moon image changes for Halloween, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day.
So I'd say we're due up for one soon. Perhaps check past days on Snapzilla?
I don't think I've seen any for other holidays, probably due to what may be (non-)secular issues.
