Strange Bedfellows

Unconventional allies McDonald's Corp and Nintendo are now partnering to hop into things metaversal.  As the economy gets weirder, what new parnership possibilities are emerging for the quirky little company called Linden Lab?  Is the idea of SLoogle already too conventional?

"This agreement with Wayport will bring countless people together to play games in a single, simultaneous wireless community," says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is simple to use. Beginning with free access at participating McDonald's, we have removed one of the major barriers that have kept people from going online to play games."

This is one of many examples of the dynamic market repositioning that can take place in the Web 3.0 era.  The playing field is cracking wide open due to the rate of devlopment and convergence.  There's a new "killer app" every few months that gets integrated in a flash.   Those with vision get rewarded.  It just so happens that there are many companies with solid vision out there, companies just waiting to make dynamic moves.

The SLoogle hypothesis is interesting and appealing, but might not more dynamic partnership possibilities emerge?  Second Life could very well decide to generate revenue in an unconventional way by partnering with a film company, media cafe (like McDonald's and UWink), live event company (festivals, concerts), server manufacturer, national government, business corporation (as new software platform),  or maybe something even weirder... 

Any guesses?

Great. Fat people + video games = Health Care Issues.

If that perverted clown wishes to enroll his buyers into the video game world, they should be AVGs. It doesn't help that they don't have to physically work to obtain information. I can just imagine the greasy fingers touching the LCD. Or someone mistaking their mini mac for a double mac. MacDonalds needs a gym, not an internet service.
